Ashley appliance connectors, contents 24. Brown cardboard box containing dark brown bakelite electrical connectors. Made by Assley Accessories, Cumbria.

Part of the Bob Gray collection of electrical objects.

Earthed Appliances such as kettles are often fitted with removable connectors for safety, ease of operation, and cleaning. These appliance connectors were made around 1960 by Ashley of Ulverston, Lancashire and are of a type which was more popular in continental Europe than in the UK. The shiny metal strip on the outside is the earth connector which is designed to engage with the metal body of the appliance.
