Armature for a puppet from the 2001 film 'Monkeybone', directed by Henry Selick.

Monkey Bone was made by Twentieth Century Fox and 1492 Pictures. Made in California.

Brendan Fraser plays a cartoonist Stu Miley who created a comic strip featuring Monkeybone a mischievous monkey. In the film Miley and Monkeybone swap bodies. It is filmed in both live-action and animation. Although not a box-office hit, the quirky comedy has been praised for its clever use of animation.

This armature was painstakingly built by character fabricators to be used by puppet makers and animators. It is a movable frame that sits hidden beneath the malleable coating that supports the characters’ features and costumes.
