Tensioning toggle for a turning saw, made in around 1850.

The blade of a turning saw is tensioned by twisting strands of cord running across the top of the frame using a toggle. In this example, the toggle can slide within the block for holding the cord, meaning that the toggle can be used to further tension the cord as well as hold the taught cord in position.

metal (unknown) and wood (unidentified)
