Maker's plate of George Saxon Ltd, Manchester, 1921.

George Saxon of Openshaw, Manchester, was established in 1854. The firm mainly made mill engines. Nameplates like this one are sometimes all that remains of engines built by such firms, the engine having been broken up when replaced with newer technology. The inscription on this plate suggests that the engine from which this plate came was originally built in 1907 and then later rebuilt in 1921.
