The tube was produced by Electron Co.LTD. in 1923 under the brand name "Amrex". The company was one of the founders of the BVA (British Valve Association) in 1926.

Later Mullard bought the shares of the Electron Co.Ltd. and changed the name to "Six-Sixty Radio Co.Ltd.
