Siemens C35i WAP mobile phone, manufactured by Siemens, Germany, 2000-2003.
Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) was an early mobile internet system for use with mobile phones and other portable computing devices. The Siemens C35i was designed especially to work with WAP services. This model was sometimes sold in a bundle with a Casio Message Cam, a PDA with a built in camera, to enable users to share their photos over the mobile web. The combination did not prove successful, but when mobile phones with integrated cameras entered the market only a few years later they quickly became popular with younger users. WAP was not as successful as hoped, and was soon overtaken when mobile phones became sophisticated enough to access ordinary websites.
