A black & white silver gelatin print entitled "Cynthia Payne Trial", by Brian Harris. From the exhibition 'The Independent' at Impressions Gallery.

Cynthia Payne (24 December 1932 - 15 November 2015) was an infamous 'madam' whose career as an eccentric suburban brothel-keeper led to a film, books and a career as a “naughty but nice” celebrity. She hit the headlines in 1978 when police raided her home in Streatham, south London. By the time she was convicted of running a disorderly house in 1980, she had become a household name and, although she had to close her establishment, was able to make a living as an after-dinner speaker and commentator on sexual matters.
