JVC GC-3350U video camera, JVC HR-4100AU VHS color portable video recorder, JVC AA-P41AU, with manuals

Made:
1978-09 in Japan

JVC consumer colour video camera, October 1978, comprising: (1) JVC colour video camera GC-3350U; (2) JVC portable video cassette recorder HR-4100AU; (3) JVC camera control unit; (4) JVC AA-P41AU AC power adaptor. The first portable consumer video cassette camera system available in the world. The donor, who live(s) in Britain, bought it new while visiting the USA for $7,000 because no VHS cameras were yet available in the UK. He also had to purchase and transport an NTSC-compatible Sony TV over with the system and connect the recorder to an enormous dual voltage battery belt in order to play back video. He recorded less than ten hours with the unit - and switched to PAL when VHS cameras became available in the UK the following year. He has not used the system since 1980. Included are the factory owner's manuals for the recorder and power supply, but the manual for the camera is not present.
