A photographic portrait of Mary Emily 'May' Prinsep (1853-1931) entitled 'La Contadina', taken by Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) in June, 1866. La Contadina is Italian for 'peasant girl'. The term was often used as a title for works of art in the Victorian period. Albumen print.
