This brick formed part of the original external Coronation Street set built at the Granada Television studios between Quay Street and Liverpool Road at Grape Street, Manchester. It was sold as one of 3000 limited edition commemorative bricks to raise money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and the Film and Television Charity, in 1982. This is brick number 630 out of 3000.

Coronation Street is a popular television show originally created by Granada Television and filmed in Manchester. The show was first aired on 9 December 1960. In 2010, the show celebrated its 50th anniversary and became the world’s longest running television soap opera.

The television show is set in the fictional town of Weatherfield, based on Salford. The action centres around a few households, a shop, a factory and the Rovers Return Inn, all along a cobbled street.

Initially all the street scenes were filmed inside a studio in front of facades made of wood. Throughout the late 1960s and into the 1970s the street shots were gradually moved outside as sections of the set were built in the Granada Television studio lot. In 1982 the well-loved street was built as a permanent full-street set at the studios. The bricks from the original outside sets became available for sale to raise money for charity.

The set was rebuilt once again in 2014. ITV Studios moved their filming of the show to a purpose built lot on a former truck stop site in Trafford Park on Trafford Wharf Road, Media City, Manchester.
