This photographic portrait of the artist George Frederic Watts (1817-1904) forms part of the Herschel Album, created by Cameron for her friend Sir John Herschel (1792-1871). Watts was known to Cameron as 'The Signor'. 'England's Michelangelo', Watts was one of the most important painters of the late Victorian period.
