This photographic portrait of Caroline 'Carry' Emillia Mary Herschel (1830-1909), the daughter of Sir John Herschel (1792-187) forms part of the Herschel Album, created by Cameron for her close friend Sir John Herschel (1792-1871). John Herschel and his wife had nine sons and three daughters, of whom Caroline was the eldest.
