Photograph entitled 'Henry Taylor - Philip van Artevelde' taken by Julia Margaret Cameron in 1864. Albumen contact print from wet collodion negative. This photographic portrait of the author Henry Taylor (1800-1886) forms part of the Herschel Album, created by Cameron for her friend Sir John Herschel (1792-1871). Henry Taylor was a prolific author. His best known works were four verse plays, including the drama 'Philip van Artevelde', based on the Elizabethan model.
