Photograph entitled 'The Honorable Frank Charteris' taken by Julia Margaret Cameron in 1867. Albumen contact print from wet collodion negative. This photographic portrait of Frank Charteris (1844-1870), Lord Elcho's eldest son, forms part of the Herschel Album created by Cameron for her friend Sir John Herschel (1792-1871). Charteris was killed in a shooting accident in 1870, aged just twenty-six.
