This photographic portrait of Eugene Cameron (1840-1885) forms part of the Herschel Album, created by Cameron for her friend Sir John Herschel (1792-1871). Eugene was the eldest of Cameron's five sons. He joined the Royal Artillery at the age of fourteen.
