Three photographic studies which form the back page of the Hershel album, created by Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) for her friend Sir John Herschel (1792-1871). The top print is an oval trimmed albumen print of Mary Ryan (1848-1914) taken by Cameron in 1865. The second is a domed, trimmed albumen print of Mary Catherine Alderson (dates unknown) taken by Cameron in 1864. The thrid oval trimmed albumen print of Alice Jessie Keown (born 1861 ) and Elizabeth "Topsy" Keown (born 1859) is known as 'The Turtle Dove' and was taken by Cameron in 1864.
