Star Strider Robot with box packaging, manufactured by Horikawa, Japan, 1980's

The Star Strider robot toy by Harikawa was a very popular design, with the 1970s and 1980s production run re-using manufacturing moulds originally made in the early 1960s. this ensduring design shows the popularity of robot toys, and their enduring role cementing in the public imagination the potential forms that robots might in future take.
