Engine Robot with box packaging, manufactured by Horikawa, Japan, 1980-1989.

This toy robot stood out from its many rival designs by having a new 'smoking' feature. It represents the many designs of robot toy available, which had an enormous influence over public perceptions of robots, their form and function in the real world.
