Talking Missile Robot with box packaging, manufactured by Yonezawa Toys, Japan, 1981

Talking Missile Robot was designed to walk, launch missles from either side of its head, and speak a range of phrases. This complexity demonstrates the amount of development attention puit in to what was a very popular toy, and one which helped reinforce in the public imagination what robots might in future look or behave like.
