Mr Zerox robot, manufactured by Horikawa, Japan, 1960s

this version of Mr Zerox differs from other early versions of this particular design in having gold feet, not red. Operated by batteries, the robot would walk forward with arms moving back and forth, before the chest panel opened to reveal guns which fired with light and sound effects. the toy was part of a wave of imagined toy robots which had considerable effect on the public perception of robots' form and behaviour.
