An oval shaped watch in a gilt-metal case with silver covers and engraved silver band, by Henry Archer, London c.1630. The gilt engraved dial plate has a circular silver centre engraved with the hour figures and a river scene. The movement has a verge escapement, a three wheel train, an oval pinned on balance cock and ratchet wheel set-up. The backplate features an engraved border and is signed 'Henry Archer'. Purchased by the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers at the Sotheby's sale of the Percy Webster collection, 1954.

Archer was an original petitioner for the Clockmakers' Company in 1622 and named as the first Warden in the Company's Charter of 1631. He acted as Master during the frequent absences of David Ramsay (named on the Charter as the first Master).
