Oval shaped Puritan-style silver watch with outer case covered in fish-skin, by Edward East, London, 1630-40. The plain undecorated silver case has a circular window on the front cover containing crystal, held in place by a ring with screws. On the rear of the case is a winding hole with shutter. The silver dial is also plain, with a small engraved chapter ring. Steel hand with long tail. Movement with verge escapement, a train of three wheels, balance with broad steel rim and fusee with gut-line. Oval-shaped balance cock and worm-and-wheel set up. The balance cock would have originally been attached to the backplate with a pin, but is now secured with a screw. Signed on the backplate 'Eduardus East Londini'
