Watch in a painted enamel case by Paul Roumieu

Watch by Paul Roumieu c.1650, in a painted enamel case of probable later date. The round enamel case is painted in the style of Boucher with a scene of Mars and Venus on the back, and has edges in blue with panels of architectural scenes. On the inside of the case is a harbour scene, also painted on enamel. The dial is of plain white enamel with Roman numerals and a quarter-hour track. Steel hand with a long tail. Movement with train of three wheels, worm-and-wheel set up, pierced balance cock with oval shaped foot, and fusee with gut line. Signed 'P. Roumieu, Rouen' on backplate.
