Watch with a later case and dial by Edward East, London, c.1680. Brass case, covered in leather, possibly shark-skin. White enamel dial, with hands missing. Movement with verge escapement, a train of four wheels, balance-cock with irregular shaped foot and balance spring of two turns. Signed on the movement 'Eduardus East London'. One of the first acquistions to the collection formed by the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers which became the Clockmakers' Museum. This watch was presented to the Company by the watchmaker Francis Putley of Newington in 1816. Clockmakers' Museum No. 46
