Pair cased watch by Thomas Tompion, London, 1670–1680. The outer case is covered in shagreen, the inner case is made of gilt metal. The white enamel dial, which is possibly a replacement, has large minute figures. Steel 'beetle' hour and minute hands. The movement has a verge escapement and a train of 4 wheels and is signed ‘Tho Tompion, London’. As the movement is un-numbered it is likely to have been made before 1780.
