White enamel dial with gold hands, and winding achieved through an aperture in the dial. Engraved and pierced balance cock, signed ‘Ann Phillips, London 1778’. c.1790
The identity of Ann Phillips has not yet been discovered. She may well have been a widow continuing her husband’s business. A number of watchmakers sharing her surname died at the close of the 18th century.
