Gold watch with minute repeating, by Abraham-Louis Breguet, Paris, France 1784-5. Plain gold case marked for the year 1784 inside the back cover, and with a small enamelled letter 'y' on the outside. White enamel dial signed 'Breguet'. Gold beetle hands, possibly added later. Movement with cylinder escapement and minute repeater, of a type similar to that used by the English watchmaker John Arnold. The movement is shrouded by a dust cap, which can only be removed after the movement has been taken out of the case. Signed on the dust cap ‘Breguet A Paris No 128’.

This is an early example of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s work. Presented to the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1870 by Francis B. Adams. Clockmakers' Museum No. 348
