Gold watch with later movement, unknown maker, London, case hallmarked 1818, movement second half 19th century. Plain gold case, Engine turned gold dial with subsidiary seconds and steel spade hands. Jewelled movement with diamond endstone, polished gold spotted plates, duplex escapement, bi-metallic compensation balance with helical spring and gold escape wheel.

Sir David Salomons owned an extensive collection of watches, including many notable pieces by the French horologist Abraham Louis Breguet. He presented a total of 8 watches from his collection, including this one, to the museum of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1924. Clockmakers' Museum No. 401
