Gold repeating watch by M. Lepaute fils, Paris, 1795-1825. Gold case, stamped 128. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds and steel loop hands. Signed 'Lepaute'. Fusee movement with plain balance, Robin escapement, ruby endstone and repeating work. Signed on the backplate 'Lepaute 4904', and on the cuvette ‘M. Lepaute fils A Paris 4904’. The maker of this watch is probably Pierre Michel Lepaute who died 1849.
Sir David Salomons owned an extensive collection of watches, including many notable pieces by the French horologist Abraham Louis Breguet.
