Spring driven, striking table clock with pull repeat by Christopher Gould, London, c.1700. Ebonised case with basket top and ormolu mounts. 6 inch square gilt-brass dial with matted centre, applied silvered chapter ring and cherub spandrels. Two steel hands. Signed at the base of the dial under the chapter ring 'Chr. Gould Londini' At the top of dial is a lever for strike/silent, engraved 'suona' and 'non suona'. Fusee movement of 8 day duration with verge escapement and short pendulum, and pull repeating. Backplate engraved with acanthus leaves and signed 'Chr. Gould Londini fecit'.

Gould was made a Freeman of the Clockmakers' Company in 1682, and died 1718. Clockmakers' Museum No. 560
