Eight-day marine chronometer by John Arnold & Son, London, c. 1795. Octagonal kingwood box without gimbals. Silvered dial with subsidiary seconds dial and signed 'John Arnold and Son, London'. Movement with fusee and spring-detent escapement with Z balance and helical steel spring with end-curves. Signed on the movement 'John Arnold & Son London No 78/168 Invt. et Fect'. This chronometer originally formed part of the collection of the Reverand Henry Nelthropp. Clockmakers' Museum No. 603
