Spring driven, striking table clock by Joseph Knibb, London, c.1680. Oak case veneered in ebony with cushion top, brass mounts, glazed apertures to sides and carrying handle. 6.5 inch dial with matted centre, skeletonised chapter ring surrounded by cherub spandrels, and date aperture. Signed under the chapter ring at the base of the dial 'Ioseph Knibb London'. Fusee movement of eight day duration with verge escapement and short pendulum, count wheel striking with count wheel on the outside of the backplate. Backplate engraved with tulips, lilies and foliage and signed ‘Joseph Knibb Londini Fecit’. Clockmakers' Museum No. 698
