Watch manufactured for the Chinese export market by William Ilbery, London, early 19th century. Gold case with chequered enamel pattern and stamped JR on the inside of the cuvette. White enamel dial with gold minute and hour hands and steel central sweep-seconds hand. Engraved and skeletonised movement with duplex escapement. Balance cock with micrometer adjustment and diamond endstone. Signed ‘Ilberry, London 6988’. Clockmakers' Museum No. 720
