Quarter-repeating automaton watch by an unknown maker, Switzerland, early 19th century. Gold engine-turned case with ribbed band. Dial formed from an annular white enamel chapter ring enclosing the automata. In an aperture below 12 o'clock, a male figure is revealed on the hour to strike the hours on Father Time's scythe. Below the aperture is a garlanded grotto, where two putti strike the quarters on simulated bells. Quarter-repeating movement with cylinder escapement. Clockmakers' Museum No. 782
