Bracelet watch by Broillal, Switzerland c.1780. Visible brilliant-set escapement beside a white enamel dial, within a bezel set with pearls. Striking on a small bell. Gold rectangular case. One edge has a lever engraved 'faites sonner' (ring) and the other side sonne/non sonne (strike/silent). On the back is a sliding cover engraved 'Tournez les aiguilles. Remontre a gauche' . The case of the watch clips onto two fastenings secured to a ribbon which can be tied around the wrist, making this an early form of wristwatch.
