Pair-cased sun-and-moon watch by George Lyon, England, probably Liverpool, c.1690. Outer case covered in red tortoiseshell, inlaid with silver wire to form the letters ‘IHS’, the inner case of plain silver, stamped indistinctly ‘- F’. Silver sun-and-moon dial with subsidiary seconds. Movement with verge escapement, a balance cock engraved with a cross, and the backplate signed ‘Geo Lyon fecit’. Clockmakers' Museum No. 1200
