Introduced around 2004, this Apple iPod mini is an early example of popular portable consumer electronic devices available in the first decade of the twenty-first century. With the increased availability and affordability of miniaturised electronics including microchips, batteries, and data storage (the latter being especially true of the Apple iPod mini), these popular devices were tailored for the consumer market and became iconic designs in their right and emblematic of the personal and interconnected Information Age of the early twenty-first century.
