A collection of 29 photographs consisting of lantern slides, an autochrome and glass and film negatives by Ellis Kelsey, depicting Magnus Volk’s Brighton & Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway, trains on the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway, seaside scenes, views of Brighton and Hastings, a woman on a bicycle and early motor cars, about 1898 to 1910.

Volk’s eccentric seaside railway, an electric powered carriage mounted on long legs with wheels which ran on two tracks built at the water’s edge, was only in existence from 1896 to 1901.
