Seven (7) samples of optical fibre, unknown maker, Britain, 1982.

The early 1980s marked a new era in the production of high-quality optical fibres, which through innovations from the field of chemistry, could now be manufactured and increasingly high speeds. These now made optical fibre cables cheaper than their traditional copper counterparts and ushered in a new era of optical fibre technology, both in telecommunications and medicine. Although little is known about the manufacturer of these optical fibre samples beyond they were British, they may have been made to demonstrate the new potential of optical fibre cables in the early 1980s.
