Painting, portrait in watercolours on paper of locomotive engineer Timothy Hackworth (1786 - 1850), by an unknown artist, about 1845. The painting depicts Hackworth in middle age, dressed in non-conformist plain clothing. He is seen from the chest up, with his head inclined slightly to the left. He is balding, with blue eyes. He wears a dark coat, black suit coat and a white cravat. The portrait is on paper, pasted to cut-down board, attached with parcel tape to a window mount. A pencilled inscription on the reverse reads "To be returned to E Hack....5 Gor....Th....". Unframed.
