Whitworth end measuring machine

Whitworth end measuring machine, painted red, the headstock is engraved No 91, 1897.

This machine is a version of the ‘millionth’ measuring machine, as it can use measuring bars to set the distance between the two heads. There are also lines on the wheels to set the measurement by line measurement. The date and model number (no. 91) are also engraved on it. It was donated to the Museum by Crossley Premier Engines Ltd, of Manchester in 1975.
