Double sided poster showing 'Neb' and 'Amie' from Terrance Higgins Trust campaign ‘It Starts with Me’, in association with HIV Prevention England for National HIV testing week, 22-30 November 2014
Beginning in 2012, National HIV Testing Week is an annual event to encourage people to get tested in the run up to World AIDS Day on 1 December. Launched in 2013, HIV Prevention England part of the Terrence Higgins Trust, runs the ‘It Starts With Me’ campaign aimed at those identified at most risk of HIV. The aim is to support and increase awareness of HIV testing and increase motivation of preventative measures to stop HIV transmission including condoms. Posters are available alongside a social media campaign.
Testing in the United Kingdom is free, fast, and confidential. If someone has HIV, the sooner they are diagnosed, the sooner they can start treatment. Once at undetectable levels, a person cannot pass on HIV.
The Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) was set up in 1982 in memory of Terrence Higgins, the first person to die from AIDS in the United Kingdom.
