Poster for the film 'Saraband for Dead Lovers'

Two film postes advertising the Ealing Studios production, 'Saraband for Dead Lovers', 1948. Designed by Robert Medley and printed by Graphic Reproductions Limited.

Saraband for Dead Lovers was a lavish costume drama adapted from a romantic novel, which can be seen as Ealing's attmept to break the American market. It was both Ealing's first film in colour and its most expensive, but proved to be a box office failure. it was shot in Technicolor by cinematographer Douglas Slocombe, who deliberately ignored the rules laid down by the Technicolor rule book, achieving an successfully ununsual look for a Techniolor film.
