Electrical resistance thermometer used to measure the effects of solar radiation and temperature on climbers skin and clothing in shade and in direct exposure to sunlight, used by Dr Griffith Pugh to provide physiological data for and during the Mount Everest expedition of 1953, United Kingdom, 1952-3. Results using this device on May 5th 1953 at 18000ft at 11.30am recorded temperatures ranging between 34.5C in the shade and 53.6C in direct sun.
