Two boxes, each for containing 12 ampoules of morphine hydrochloride: one containing eleven and the other twelve ampoules, by E Merck, Darmstadt, Germany, possibly for the French and Turkish markets, 1900 to 1918. Morphine hydrochloride is powerful analgesic and narcotic, but it also has stimulant actions. The chief uses of morphine are for the relief of pain, the procuring of sleep where sleeplessness is due to pain, the arrest of haemorrhage, the suppression of cough and the relief of anxiety and apprehension.
