'Memories of Murder' is a 2003 South Korean crime drama, co-written and directed by Bong Joon-ho. It is based on the true story of Korea's first serial murders which took place between 1986 and 1991 in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. Song Kang-ho and Kim Sang-kyung play Detective Park and Detective Seo, two of the detectives trying to solve the crimes.
Bong Joon-Ho went on to make 'Parasite', 2019, which beacame the first film not in English to win Best Picture as the Academy Awards.
