BabyWrap™, neo-natal warming pouch, serial number, 16100467, part of Embrace Infant Warmer starter kit designed by Embrace® Innovations, Inc and made by Phoenix Medical Systems (P) Ltd, 2017
Reusable and cleanable, the BabyWrap™ is a warming pouch to help premature and low-birth weight babies regulate their temperature. Reheatable wax packs are slipped inside the lining, providing heat for up to four hours. With a clear window for monitoring, the sleeping bag has an indicator when the wax packs should be recharged. Access to incubators is challenging in areas where treatment may be limited due to cost or distance.
In 2008, four Stanford University students came up with the design as part of their studies. They were challenged to create an incubator 1% of the cost of a traditional one, which in the United States costs $20,000. Following clinical trials, the Embrace® Nest was launched in 2011 in India, where it is widely used.
