After receiving a heart transplant, recipients require life long medication to help keep them healthy and to stop their body rejecting their donor heart. Each person has different medication needs at different points of their post-operation journey. All heart transplant recipients are prescribed statins. These medicines have a number of benefits including lowering cholesterol, reducing the chance of rejection and lowers the risk of transplant coronary artery disease.
