Electrically powered demonstration model of the Co-axial escapement by George Daniels. Isle of Man c.1985.
This model was built by Dr Daniels to demonstrate his newly invented escapement and ‘to capture the attention of the Swiss industry’. The escapement suffers virtually no sliding friction and so requires minimal lubrication. The Swiss watchmakers, Omega, currently manufacture it in large numbers. It was bequeathed to the Clockmakers' Museum by George Daniels in 2011.
