Board with eight mounted sketches, including two titled ‘Sunset and afterglow, with rays, No. 1, 6.15, shows “Bishop’s ring” larger; it decreased in size, as usual, while the sun went down’, dated September 2nd, three titled ‘Sunset and faint afterglow, No. 3, 7.10’, dated September 4th, and two titled ‘Afterglow, No. 1, 6.45; No. 2, 7 o’clock’, dated September 5th, by William Ascroft, London, England, 1884. There is one additional sketch which is unidentified and missing from the original 1888 ‘Catalogue of Sky Sketches’ published for the exhibition at the South Kensington Museum [see attached media for 1888-156: DOC_1888-0156_1888 SKY SKETCHES EXHIBITION CATALOGUE].
